You are not required to purchase an upgrade plan, and you can keep your current version for life. Since your upgrade plan has expired, you may have been prompted to purchase an optional upgrade plan if you wish to install further updates. After 3 years, you can renew your Pro Tools subscription for another 3 years for the discounted cost of $199. Your Pro Tools subscription is good for 36 months (3 years) which provides you with ample time to complete all of your coursework. If you received Pro Tools on or after May 2018: You can keep your license at its current version for life. If you received Pro Tools prior to May 2018, your license only allowed updates/upgrades within 12 months of registering your product. After 36 months, your subscription and access to Pro Tools will expire. If you received Pro Tools on or after May 2018, you can install updates to Pro Tools or upgrade to a new version of Pro Tools within 36 months (3 years) after registering your product.
